Joseph Katchen: Helping Enhance the Prosserman JCC
Giving Back With A Special Tzedakah Project

With his Bar Mitzvah around the corner, Joseph Katchen began researching a tzedakah project to incorporate into his special day.

He looked into different charities and found himself repeatedly coming back to the Prosserman Jewish Community Centre as the place he wanted to make a difference. Having grown up at the Bathurst JCC visiting the Jewish Discovery Museum, taking swim lessons, floor hockey and being an active camper through The Jack and Pat Kay Centre Camp, he decided he wanted to give back to the JCC in some way.

He was walking through the halls of the new Prosserman JCC and found himself in the lounge one day. He looked up and noticed that there was no TV in the lounge and felt it was an item that was clearly missing from this type of room in the facility.

Hence, Joseph’s decision to donate a flatscreen TV to the Prosserman JCC’s lounge was born. In mid-June of this year, Joseph proudly put a portion of his Bar Mitzvah gift money toward the purchase of a flatscreen TV that can now be found on the east wall of the Silverberg/Appleby Families Lounge.  The TV will help to enhance program offerings in this space as well as provide news and weather updates throughout the day.  Stop by anytime!

Thank you to Joseph for this generous donation!
