Shayne Robinson is a member of First Narayever Congregation and contributed a version of the following Board Member profile to the July/August 2012 edition of the Narayever News.

I’m proud to step forward as candidate for our Social Action Chair at the Narayever, a society I can truly say I admire as I’m friends with four of First Narayever Congregation’s past Social Action Chairs, and married to one.

I was born in Winnipeg (South-end.) I went to University in New York, to party in Montreal, back to work in Winnipeg, and finally to marry (spoiler alert) the Narayever’s finest Rachel Melzer here in Toronto.

My professional and volunteer efforts include campaigning for pesticide use reduction in Winnipeg and selling sewage treatment optimization in Western Canada. Shiatsu was in there about three lifetimes ago.

I love the kids’ Shabbat b’Yachad services downstairs, and I’m grateful to our son Kalil who is my ticket to participate. I love the shul’s adult programs too, they are always thoughtful and uplifting, Rabbi Ed is consistently engaging, and the community of friends have been a joy to know and connect with while we are delightedly crammed together over Kiddush lunches.

In an ideal Narayever world I’d like to continue to see us each step forward, volunteering to keep making our shul a vibrant and exciting place to nash and daven.
