This guide provides contact names and numbers of agencies survivors and their families can access for information regarding the following:

  • Social Activities

This resource is an initiative of the Canadian Jewish Holocaust Survivors and UJA Federation - Jewish Information Service of Greater Toronto.

Canadian Jewish Holocaust Survivors (CJHS)
CJHS was created in 1999 and is dedicated to being a grassroots voice for more than 17,000 survivors across Canada. The organization has four primary objectives:

  • To represent and speak on behalf of Canadian Jewish Holocaust Survivors with a unified voice in partnership with community funding, planning and service delivery organizations
  • To advocate on behalf of Canadian Jewish Holocaust Survivors and help ensure they receive their "fair share" of restitution and compensation funds
  • To disseminate and interpret information to Canadian Jewish Holocaust Survivors regarding restitution matters 
  • To engage in activities promoting the interest and welfare of Canadian Jewish Holocaust Survivors.

Since 1951, the Claims Conference, working in partnership with the State of Israel, has negotiated for and distributed payments from Germany, Austria, other governments, and certain industries, recovered unclaimed German Jewish property, and funded programs to assist the neediest Jewish victims of Nazism.
